Libre sensor usage and ghusl
QUESTION
Does a person suffering from diabetes need to remove the Libre sensor which is attached to the arm and used to monitor blood glucose levels when taking a ghusl? Please note removing the sensor is expensive and not available from the the NHS except twice a month at this time.
ANSWER
In the situation
described, when the need arises for a ghusl (obligatory bath), if a new sensor
is available at that time, the old one should be
removed and the arm fully washed during ghusl and the new sensor attached
thereafter. However, if the new sensor is unvailable and there is genuine
hardship in replacing the sensor or using alternate methods of monitoring blood
glucose levels, then instead of removing the sensor it may be left on the arm
and a wet hand passed over it just as a bandage is wiped over, and the ghusl
will be complete. And Allah knows best.
